The Secret Service of Ukraine (SSU) arrested a woman believed to be involved in a purported scheme to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to the SSU, the detained woman had allegedly been orchestrating plans for a Russian airstrike within the Mykolaiv region, timed to coincide with the President’s visit.
Labeled as a “traitor” by the security agency, she was apprehended while attempting to provide crucial details to Russian counterparts on the eve of Zelenskyy’s trip, where he was scheduled to visit wounded soldiers and medical professionals.

The security breach prompted heightened vigilance, with Mykolaiv’s security service implementing preemptive measures to bolster the Zelenskyy’s safety.

The woman in question “was preparing a Russian airstrike in the Mykolaiv region during the visit of the President of Ukraine,” the SSU said. The ongoing investigation into the accused spy’s activities aims to unveil deeper insights into her alleged Russian handlers and the tasks assigned to her. Specifically, she was instructed to pinpoint the location of Ukrainian military “electronic warfare systems” and ammunition storage sites near Ochakiv.
To fulfill her intelligence-gathering mission, the suspect allegedly ventured to the designated area where she captured photographs and videos of Ukrainian installations. This operation involved communication with a Russian intelligence officer who requested details about the hospital President Zelensky would be visiting.
The accused collaborator even volunteered to physically visit the hospital in a bid to gather more information, suggesting the possibility of discreetly capturing photographs. Russia has yet to comment on the arrests.
The woman, a former sales clerk at a local military shop in Ochakiv, now faces charges of unauthorized dissemination of military-related information. If found guilty, she could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
During an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett last month, Zelenskyy said he was not bothered by the threats on his life.
