You know crime is bad in some cities when a liberal CEO like Howard Schultz is calling out fellow liberal leaders. The Starbucks boss said that leaders of several cities are flat out ignoring the crime issues in their cities, and it’s crushing business and community safety.

A Starbucks employee posted a video from an internal meeting that included this quote from Schultz.

“I must say, in my view at the local, state, and federal level, these governments across the country and leaders, mayors and governors, and city councils have abdicated their responsibility in fighting crime and addressing mental health.”

This statement follows his decision to permanently close 16 Starbuck stores in five cities ruled by progressives and have either crime, homelessness, or both spiraling out of control.

The cities are Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Portland, and, of course, his home base of Seattle.

Here’s more from Schultz about why Starbucks is closing stores despite satisfactory sales numbers.

“I don’t have to spend too much time on what’s going on in the country and how America is becoming unsafe, but you all read the press release over the last couple of days that we are beginning to close stores that are not unprofitable. It has shocked me that one of the primary concerns that our retail partners have is their own personal safety.”

Here’s how bad it has become in progressive cities with DAs, mayors, and city council members asleep at the wheel. Schultz said Starbucks would start training baristas on how to handle active shooter situations.
