Most doctors who rise to prominent positions and attain professional success are respected and liked.  Most doctors aren’t like Anthony Fauci, the 81-year old highest paid employee in the federal government who generates massive amounts of scorn and hatred because of his role in the pandemic.

Elon Musk tweeted about Fauci Sunday, and of course, it drew a lot of likes, scorn, and attention.

“My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”

With those five words, Twitter was ablaze.  Musk got tons of support.  Millions of parents who were not allowed to send their children to school, stunting their development during the lockdown, loved it.

It received over half a million likes in the first few hours. Others ran to the elderly man’s defense, fans of his uber-extreme safety recommendations and flip-flopping that kept the spotlight-loving doc in front of cameras for years.

Someone named Peter Hotez sprinted to his phone to defend Fauci, declaring him a masked hero of the masses.

”For the record: Dr. Fauci has done nothing wrong, except serve our nation. In the meantime, Mr. Musk should know that 200,000 Americans needlessly lost their lives from Covid due to this kind of antiscience rhetoric and disinformation. Elon, I’m asking you to take down this Tweet.”

Fauci was a champion for social distancing, double masking, avoidance of any sort of family gatherings during holidays, and children relying on Zoom for their education.

Musk didn’t say why he put Fauci in his cross-hairs, but would it be surprising if he uncovered something digging through the files at his new company regarding Fauci’s role in all things Covid?

Stay tuned.  This week should be interesting.
