If you are a fan of the mediocre films The Rock cranks out regularly, I have great news: he has decided not to run for President in 2024.

The loud sigh of relief you undoubtedly heard from the southeastern corner of the United States had to be Florida governor Ron DeSantis.  Joe Biden might not know who the Rock is, so there is no reaction from the White House about Dwayne Johnson forgoing national politics to focus on potentially making sequels to Skyscraper, Rampage, Race to Witch Mountain, and maybe even a 14th installment of Jumanji.

Johnson broke the news on “CBS Sunday Morning,” and he decided to spend zero time with political strategists and more time with his family.

“It is off the table. I will say this because it requires the B-side to this: I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me, being a daddy. Number one. Especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.”

Back in July of 2021, People Magazine reported on a poll that said just under 50% of Americans were in favor of Johnson taking a run at the big job. He hinted about doing it way back in 2017 when he was on the Ellen Degeneres show and told her that he thought he might try to do it someday.

That someday will have to wait.

For now, he’s going to help raise his six and four-year-old when he’s not jetting around the world filming, promoting, helping with his XFL league and throwing on the uber-tight shorts, and jumping in a wrestling ring.
