It seems fair to ask – what is going on in San Francisco? The once vibrant and versatile city has remained consistent within the news circuit these last couple of years but not for reports of celebration. With a crime rate of 64 per 1,000 residents, San Fran has one of the highest crime rates in America.

Although data reviewed by Fox News Digital reveals that the homicide rate is lower than in other major cities, rapes and assaults have remained relatively stable, while theft and property crime has risen significantly since 2019.

Valuetainment sent one of their reporters, Dodge Landesman to the city this past weekend and these were his thoughts:

“Visited San Francisco just this past week to cover the reparations issue. Figured it’d be key to stop by the Tenderloin District, which has historically been famous for high homelessness and drug use. It was my third time back in that neighborhood after two years and I can say, it’s gotten much worse. The Tenderloins have expanded. Previously, it was just five blocks. It now begins downtown and has doubled in size. You walk almost any block around there and you see 20 homeless people, a guy nodding off with a needle dangling from his hand. People eager to talk to you, follow you, and not let up unless you know how to run for safety. It’s a slow change, but it’s a city unraveling at the seams.”

With hardly any serious threat of prosecution, residents and businesses have stopped reporting crime. What they have been doing instead is moving out of the city, altogether.

Dozens of Walgreens and CVS drug stores have packed up and moved out of the city – joining the bail out team is Whole Foods Market. Just one year after opening its doors in downtown San Francisco, the corporation was worried about the safety of its employees as a rampage of drug use and theft has plagued the city.

This comes days after Cash App founder Bob Lee was stabbed to death in an apparent random attack.

How can we better the situation in San Francisco? Maybe starting at the top – choosing the right politicians to clean up the streets and protect its civilians? Just a thought.
