They just don’t want to get involved in this whole culture war mess.

The US Supreme Court issued a temporary ruling that a transgender girl, before a boy, in West Virginia could compete in her middle school’s track and cross country teams. She sued the state government after they implemented a law banning boys in girls sports. But the order was simply a temporary injunction, allowing her to get the go ahead to play as her case winds through smaller courts. Long story short, the Supreme Court doesn’t want to get involved in this issue and will likely never rule on it nationally. They essentially sent the whole thing back to the states.

Interestingly, “Becky”, the athlete at the center of it all, is only 12 years old. She had earlier started taking puberty blocking medication. Oddly enough her teammates and coach are behind her staying on. But, as her coach noted, she usually finishes at the back of the pack. Guess it’s less of an issued when you’re not actually that good.
