A long-awaited sit-down between former President Donald Trump and top-ranking podcast host Joe Rogan may finally be in the works, multiple sources, including Trump himself, are suggesting. The possibility of Trump appearing on “the Joe Rogan Experience”—an interview almost certain to set the internet ablaze—comes after years of Rogan turning down opportunities to meet with the former president and expressing no interest in helping him win reelection.
Recent speculation surrounding a meetup between the two cultural icons began last week when Elon Musk, who has built relationships with both Trump and Rogan, responded to a Zerohedge article on the subject by stating “It will happen.”

In a clip of his upcoming appearance on the Nelk Boys’ “Full Send” podcast, Trump seemed to confirm that “the Joe Rogan Experience” had already been added to his schedule in the remaining weeks before the election.
“You’re doing a lot of podcasts recently. One that I would love to see you on, I think Joe Rogan has to have you on. Would you do that?” host Kyle Forgeard asked.
“I think I’m doing it, actually,” Trump replied, complimenting Rogan’s “good voice” and podcasting skills.

For years, Rogan has been strongly opposed to having Trump on his show, despite multiple opportunities to make the interview happen. In June 2023, he told fellow podcaster Lex Fridman:
“I have had the opportunity to have him on my show, more than once, and I have said no every time. I don’t want to help him, I’m not interested in helping him.”

However, just after making these remarks, Rogan and Trump shared a handshake and friendly conversation at a UFC event in Las Vegas, suggesting that there was no personal animosity behind the decision.
By August of that year, Rogan seemed slightly more open to the idea, telling Patrick Bet-David: “I don’t know. Maybe. At a certain point in time. Just like, it would be interesting to hear his perspective on a lot of things.”

Tensions briefly flared between Trump and Rogan in early August 2024, when rumors emerged that Rogan had endorsed Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024,” Trump wrote indignantly in response to the reports.
Rogan later clarified that while he had praised RFK personally, he was withholding an official endorsement for the election cycle.
In September, Trump clarified to Fridman that there was no tension between himself and Rogan, but also no personal relationship.
“I only see him when I walk into the arena with Dana [White] and I shake his hand,” Trump said during an episode of Fridman’s show. “I see him there and I think he’s good at what he does but I don’t know about doing his podcast.”
With only three weeks remaining until the 2024 election, Rogan and Trump will have to act quickly to make their first long-form discussion a reality.
