Spending five days at a luxury Swiss ski resort discussing critical global issues with fellow CEOs, captains of industry, titans, media figures, and dignitaries at the World Economic Forum apparently makes these older gentlemen from around the world quite horny. This is why over 100 sex workers have set up camp — offering their unique services to some of the heavy hitters willing to part with $2,500 for the night.

These enterprising women will hang out at hotels and bars on and around the main strip of Davos, Switzerland, looking for clients.

Business is generally brisk each year for this event. A Swiss newspaper called 20 Minuten reported that a sex worker agency in a town 100 miles from the event had received 11 reservations and 25 inquiries last week.  Wow, that is some serious attention to detail if you order your prostitute in advance. Sort of like making an appointment for a manicure.

A sex worker from Germany named Salome Balthus posted on Twitter her experience at the Forum.

“Date in Switzerland during [World Economic Forum] means looking at the gun muzzles of security guards in the hotel corridor at 2 am – and then sharing the giveaway chocolates from the restaurant with them and gossip about the rich.”

If you are wondering if sex work is illegal in Switzerland, it is not.  In fact, it’s been legal since the 1940s.  The Swiss government regulates prostitution to prevent exploitation, USA Today reported.  Sex workers must register with public health authorities and get tested regularly.

It might not be a bad idea for workers to get tested multiple times after World Economic Forum attendees leave town.
