If Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Eminem had been part of a Super Bowl halftime show 25 years ago, the FCC might have had to hire a few hundred extra people to work the phones to process the complaints that may have come in.

But Snoop and Dre and approaching or in the heart of middle age, and they kept the show clean for the 200+ million people watching around the world.

In fact, the FCC only registered 33 complaints, according to The Hill, which dug up the information from a Freedom of Information Act request.

What could have possibly offended the folks that took the time to make the call?

The backup dancers’ outfits.  Too sexy, according to a handful of complainers!

Here are a couple of comments.

“So if 2020 wasn’t bad enough, now we get to see a bunch of half-naked women sexually twerking.”

A person from Colorado took to pen and paper to register this complaint. “Sexual content of grown hip hop and rap [singers] grabbing their groin and genitals. So offensive to children, the elderly, and families.”

When J-Lo and Shakira took the stage two years ago, over 1,300 people complained to the FCC.

Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine had his shirt off for half of his performance in 2019, and he could only induce 50 people to complain.

Of course, the Super Bowl winners of complaint-inducing halftime shows are Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.  That drew over half a million complaints, and CBS and MTV were slapped with a $550,000 fine.

One complaint from this year’s show even referenced the 2004 performance by JJ and JT.

“Janet Jackson’s performance was 1,000 times better and 100 percent not her fault. Glad Justin Timberlake wasn’t invited to the Super Bowl to this year’s show.”
