The cost of a gallon of gasoline in California is over $7 at some stations, as prices continue to rise due to inflation and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.  Joe Biden’s administration has vowed to cut fuel prices “fairly significantly,” but this was also the week of April fools Day, and those prices have not come down much.

According to Fox Television in Los Angeles, some residents of southern California can’t take it anymore and are driving to Mexico to fill up, with prices being at least $2 per gallon less south of the border.

Biden ordered the release of 1 million barrels of oil per day for the strategic petroleum reserve for the next six months, so people can cross their fingers and hope for the best that prices come down,

Here’s what Biden said about his plan.

“The bottom line is if we want lower gas prices, we need to have more oil supply right now,” he said. “This is a moment of consequence and peril for the world and pain at the pump for American families.”

Biden also announced he would invoke the Defense Production Act to encourage the mining of critical minerals for batteries to be used in electric companies. Nationwide, the average cost of a gallon is $4.23.  A year ago, it was $2.87.
