Joe Biden is many things. Here are a few things that he is not.

A dynamic speaker.

Good at reading a teleprompter.

In a scene that would have been cut out of an “Anchorman” movie because it would be too hard to believe it could actually happen, Biden made a televised blunder that will live on for the ages and help define his Presidency, no matter how it turns out.

As he was giving a White House speech trying to rally Democrats to vote in the wake of the Roe V. Wade ruling, he repeated a line that was in the speech meant for stage direction.

“End of quote.  Repeat the line.”

The Prez plowed through the script like a swarm of locusts on a corn field, reading anything and everything in his path.

“End of quote. Repeat the line.”

Usually, stage directions like that are in parenthesis, bolded, written in all caps, or something distinct to stand out, whereas a more experienced or cognitive person would identify it and not just continue to read the words.

Here’s how it played out in real-time for those watching.

“‘Women are not without electoral or political power. It is noteworthy that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast a ballot is consistently higher than the percentage of the men who do so’ — end of quote. Repeat the line. Women are not without electoral and/or political or.”

White House Assistant Press Secretary Emile Simons said, “hold on, this was Joe being his smooth savvy self.” Here’s her quote.

“No. He said, ‘let me repeat that line.”

Anyone who’s read a prompter knows if a line were to be repeated, the script would have the line in there again; it would not say “repeat the line.”

Would you be surprised if Biden said this in his next televised address?

“I don’t know how to put this but I’m kind of a big deal. People know me. I’m very important. I have many leather-bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.”
