Tiger Woods is resting and recuperating at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and if he turns on his television Sunday he will see something that should perk him up.
Through the PGA, players, staff, fans and media are paying homage to the golf icon and letting him know he’s in their thoughts by decking out in his patented Sunday combo of rd shirt and black pants.
That’s how Tiger would dress when he was on the verge of winning a golf tournament, and he’s done it for over two decades.
A number pros were rockin’ that exact look at the WGC-Workday Championship in Bradenton, Florida.
Tony Finau even had his Nike hat on backward, the way Tiger would roll up to tournaments.
There were some golf stars playing the final round in Florida in Tiger garb, including Jason Day, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Patrick Reed.
The PGA Tour Communications Twitter page showed how all of the maintenance staff working at the Puerto Rico Open was going with Tiger’s signature look of black pants and red shirt.
Max Homa grew up idolizing Tiger Woods in Southern California, and now the PGA veteran is becoming a big name on the tour. He actually won the Genesis Invitational last weekend at Riviera Country Club, the tournament Tiger was the host of.
Homa said he would honor Tiger today in a different way, not by dressing like him, but by playing his best.
He said he had a couple reasons for not mimicking Tiger’s look. One, he didn’t have a red shirt and couldn’t get one from any of his sponsors.
And two, he wasn’t allowed to. He was roasted on Twitter for it, but tried to defend his case.
“I am contractually obligated to wear clothes with certain logos that I can’t buy at a Dick’s/Pro shop/Roger Dunn/Walmart/’a store’/etc. Thank u for all the options tho!”
