History books will be responsible for trying to tell the complicated story of Rudy Giuliani’s life and political career someday.

Two decades ago, he was as respected and admired as any political figure in the U.S., dubbed “America’s Mayor” for his response to unifying New York City and helping the city recover from 9-11.

Juxtapose that persona with what he is now; a far cry from that, and now a judge in Manhattan has ordered him to pay his ex-wife at least $225,000 by next month or risk being put in jail.

The New York Post reported that Giuliani did not attend a Friday court hearing involving his ex-wife Judith. The couple was married from 2003 – 2018, and the court hearing was because Giuliana had fallen behind on alimony payments to the tune of $262,000.

That prompted Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz to say this.

“If the amount is not paid by that date, I’m going to be forced — unfortunately, because it’s not something I want to do — I’m going to be forced to remand the defendant into custody,”

Giuliani told the Post that he didn’t even know about the court hearing,

“I have never missed a court date. I am a pretty busy guy — one of the busiest in the United States — and I have never missed a court date.”

The couple divorced in 2019, and there has been an ongoing battle about money and how much he is supposed to pay her. Giuliani has argued that the $262,000 is a “gross exaggeration,” and the ex-mayor feels she is only entitled to $50,000.
