As if the mainstream media networks couldn’t go more woke, MSNBC claims that excessive working out is linked to far-right politics.

Cynthia Miller-Idriss, a “researcher in extremism” and professor in the School of Public Affairs and in the School of Education at American University in Washington D.C., wrote an article outlining her concerns on a “pandemic at-home fitness” that allegedly trended with the “far-right.”

Miller-Idriss’ article claimed that “white supremacists” latest scheme to hype violence and masculinity has gone digital. Miller-Idriss wrote: “It appears the far right has taken advantage of pandemic at-home fitness trends to expand its decade-plus radicalization of physical mixed martial arts (MMA) and combat sports spaces.”

She warns that some instances of working out have been corrupted by neo-Nazis. “The intersection of extremism and fitness leans into a shared obsession with the male body, training, masculinity, testosterone, strength and competition,” she wrote.

Physical fitness has always been central to the far right. In “Mein Kampf,” Hitler fixated on boxing and jujitsu, believing they could help him create an army of millions whose aggressive spirit and impeccably trained bodies, combined with “fanatical love of the fatherland,” would do more for the German nation than any “mediocre” tactical weapons training.”

She also writes that although “Physical fitness channels dopamine, adrenalin and serotonin in ways that literally feel good, intertwining those feelings with hateful and dehumanizing ideas…makes for a dangerous and powerful cocktail of radicalization.”

Although the article piece was written in 2022, MSNBC posted it on Monday, with influencers and social media users taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on “fascist fitness.”

“The far left’s obsession with being fat & lazy is going digital,” writes Patrick Bet-David.

“Is promoting fitness ‘Far Right?’ states influencer Zuby, as he interviews Elon Musk on his recent podcast.
