There’s a forward-thinking leader.

Mark Zuckerberg will work remotely for six months in 2022, setting the tone for his workers, according to the Wall Street Journal and CNN.

Zuckerberg’s staff – some 60,000 strong — received a memo that included his plan to spend more time with his family; Facebook told staff, including those at entry level, that more opportunity to work from home was coming.

“I’ve found that working remotely has given me more space for long-term thinking and helped me spend more time with my family, which has made me happier and more productive at work,” Zuckerberg wrote to employees on Wednesday, according to the Journal.

In another memo, the Journal said, Facebook said all staff now has eligibility to work remotely – as long as those roles allow it.

The company policy, barring other permissions, will be for workers to be in the office at least half the time next year.

Facebook’s American offices will begin opening to half capacity in September, and then, the plan is to open in full a month later.

CNN added that the Wednesday memo told staff it plans, starting next week, for workers from the U.S. to be allowed to work remotely in Canada — and those in Europe or the Middle East could work from the United Kingdom.

 Twitter, Salesforce, and Ford have instituted remote policies, and other companies have been canceling office leases.

A Business Insider story said Coinbase “is even scrapping its former San Francisco headquarters in favor of a decentralized and remote model, and Spotify said it would pay for staff to work from co-working spaces.”
