Isn’t it ironic?

The state of Washington created their first ever Office of Equity in 2020, wanting to be a leader in liberal government.

Washington became the first ever US state with an office for equity, which would spearhead diversity and inclusion across all levels in state government.

But the experiment hasn’t really panned out.

Their director, Karen Johnson, who took the position upon the office’s creation, got terminated for, as Fox News reports, a perceived “racial bias” against Mexican employees.

A law firm looking at a lawsuit said one of their clients was told by Johnson that she had a general distrust of Mexicans. The employee Johnson apparently confided in was Mexican herself.

The lawsuit apparently quotes Johnson who at one point said, “Mexican people have the option of being White when it is convenient for them.”

Another employee involved in the suit said Johnson perpetuated an “us vs. them culture,” often singling out Hispanic employees, saying they did not share the same lived racism experience that she had.

Another employee accuses Johnson of white supremacy. Once you look into the details, it might be a bit of a stretch.

Johnson apparently proclaimed that she ruled the office with “brass knuckles and a velvet glove.” The employee said Johnson was using that as a metaphor for white supremacy because there was violence in it.

Another employee couldn’t handle Johnson making a comment about her weight. “You want to be married and have a family, don’t you? If so, you have to take care of you,” said Johnson allegedly.

Guess you reap what you sew.

The Governor’s office, however, refused to admit this whole equity office idea might just be a dumb one.

Instead, they said they fired Johnson for “high vacancy rates, high employee turnover, and budgetary concerns, and a lack of stability.”

Yeah, blame it on the budget. At least it’s a ballooning one in the state of Washington.
