As if the death of her husband Kobe and daughter Gigi wasn’t devastating enough for Vanessa Bryant, she had to also deal with the fact that first responders to the fiery helicopter crash in Calabasas, California had taken photos of the victims on their phones, and shared the images.
A report on TMZ quotes members of Vanessa’s legal team as saying two firefighters have now been fired because of their actions.
Vanessa is suing for invasion of privacy, and in communications with L.A. County on the scheduling of a trial, it was revealed the two firemen were canned.
According to the docs, one of the firefighters was technically a safety officer. His job was to simply secure the scene, but he also whipped out his camera and started snapping away, taking graphic shots of remains of the victims. He allegedly then sent the photos to a media relations officer with the county, who shared them with more firefighters.
Firefighters weren’t the only first responders involved in taking and sharing photos that day. At least eight Sheriff’s deputies were allegedly in on it too.
