The New York Jets and their fans are eager to see what the future holds as the organization acquired one of the most accomplished quarterbacks the Jets have ever had.

Rodgers is likely the best quarterback in history to sport the green and white and while he followed a familiar path as his predecessor Brett Favre who was traded to the Jets in 2008, Rodgers level of play is, perhaps, even more impressive than Favre’s, or even Joe Namath’s.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas agreed Tuesday that the deal was “a historic trade for the franchise” while the social media team fired off a humorous tweet about the trade.

“Obviously, Aaron’s one of the best quarterbacks to ever play this game,” Douglas elaborated, via Pro Football Talk. “To have an opportunity to add a player of that caliber, you’re always going to look into it and how it fits within our culture, within our team.

“Obviously, it goes back to something I said to you guys in Phoenix [at the NFL owners’ meetings], it’s a real credit to Robert [Saleh] and his staff and what he’s been able to implement with our players and with everybody here that a player of Aaron’s caliber would even want to come here. We’re all excited to add someone of his character and his ability.”

Douglas did warn that both teams still have work out some of the details, but the deal was agreed to with time to spare before the NFL Draft.
