High-profile CEOs of public companies need many skills to survive and thrive in an intense global market.

A great personality is not a requirement to be successful. Case in point, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and dozens of others you might describe as socially awkward at best.

Elon Musk is in a league of his own with his wry humor, especially on social media. He also proved adept at doing comedy skits on Saturday Night Live during his hosting gig a year ago.

You wonder if an outlier like Musk, who added the title “Technoking of Tesla,”  is also the world’s richest person, influences other company heads to try to be clever.

This past week Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter and current co-founder of Block Inc, officially changed his role at Block from “CEO, President, and Chairperson” to “Block Head and Chairperson.”

The move is effective immediately, and yes, it was Dorsey’s idea to call himself a Block Head.”

It’s undoubtedly whimsical.  Block Inc. is the payment processing company that used to be called Square when Dorsey co-founded it 13 years ago. In December, it was renamed Block Inc after it absorbed the Tidal music streaming service,  Cash App, and a financial services platform focused on Bitcoin.

Dorsey’s new title has been officially filed, but according to a spokesperson at Block, his title change is semantic only.
