The House GOP passed a bill to protect online speech from federal government officials.
It comes after “The Twitter Files”, an investigation of Twitter’s actions and the potential of the governments undue influence on it, showed near constant communication and involvement during the election and pandemic years.

The bill enshrines an authors rights to keep their posts up, but it might be a cop-out. While control and direct correlation is ruled out in this bill, entire websites and hosting platforms can still be taken down, creating a loophole for government officials wanting to play free speech watchdog. Expect the bill to languish in the senate however, or it would be watered down to the point of extinction for all intents and purposes.
