Just when you thought there was finally a clear, uncontested winner … the American people have run into a brick wall. Make that one made of solid rock.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2016, appears unwilling to concede his title to “Black Panther” star Michael B. Jordan.
People announced last week that Jordan was named this year’s sexiest man. Johnson was previously given the accolade in 2016 and made the list again in 2020, but his ranking had fallen.
“I CONCEDE NOTHING,” Johnson wrote on his Instagram about the Sexiest Man Alive crown. (Important to note that the 48-year-old’s post did contain a winking emoji.)
Pundits for People magazine say the line is a clear reference to a tweet that President Trump issued last week regarding the presidential election.
This is not the first time The Rock has displayed dictator-like tendencies regarding the title of Sexiest Man Alive. In a recent interview with USA Today, the “Jumanji” star admitted he once told Idris Elba, who won the crown in 2018, that he considered himself the Sexist Man Alive “in perpetuity.”
The Rock, who has a very solid fan base, is clearly laying the foundation for many more sexy challenges to come.
