As a country, China is not messing around with its draconian approach to handling Covid. The Communist country’s leadership never runs out of ways to bring misery to their 1.45 billion people to try to enforce their zero-Covid policy, which is as bizarre as it is nonsensical.

Here’s the latest stunt that disrupted thousands of people’s lives; they shut the gates to Shanghai Disney, trapping every visitor inside the park until they could present a negative test.

Why? Because there were 10 reported locally transmitted cases of covid on Saturday.  So authorities shut down the Far East version of the Happiest Place on Earth.

Oh, this is not something that is new or that Chinese people are unaccustomed to. It is normal to see people sprinting out of stores, shops, and offices to avoid being trapped inside for hours.

The Shanghai Ikea store recently shut the doors to thousands of people inside, forcing them to what, survive on low-cost Swedish meatballs for multiple meals?

There are videos all over social media showing people dashing to the gates at Disney after hearing the announcement of the pending closure, only to find them locked shortly after 11:30 local time there. All the stores on the shopping street were closed too.

The government said nobody could enter the park, and the people inside could only leave if they had a negative test.  As for when the park will open up again, nobody knows.

This happened two days after the park started operating again at reduced capacity. Last year around this time, the same thing occurred, with 30,000 people left trapped inside.

There are currently 200 separate lockdowns in China, and President Xi Jinping told the 1.45 billion residents that things are not changing. The lockdowns are there until he decides they aren’t.

As for the poor people stuck inside Disney’s gates, the park said they continued to operate the rides.
