As a parting gift, before it became too late, defeated outgoing Prime Minister Sanna Marin cemented Finland’s entry into NATO.

They become the 31st member of the global power sharing group, a strategic get as the nation borders Russia.

Previously, Finland was neutral in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Their addition to NATO represents an implicit support of the Ukraine.

The Russian government shot back saying, “We will strengthen our military capabilities in the west and northwest if NATO members deploy forces and equipment on Finnish territory.”

Their membership now doubles NATO’s border territory with Russia.

It may serve as a serious blow to Russia, or on the flip side, a direct attack on Finland should they help Ukraine financially or militarily. With this comes the distinct possibility of a quasi invasion and with far more fatalities then there are now.
