In this latest celebrity episode of mindless Shouting From The Rooftops, Lil Nas X has partnered with MSCHF to create “Satan Shoes,” dropping March 29th. Although they’re Nike Air Max 97s, Nike told Snopes that they had no parts of this collaboration. The shoe, a promotional tool coinciding with the recent release of his song “Montero,” is said to contain a drop of human blood, will only have 666 available, and are priced at over $1,000.

Yesterday’s video release of Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” spread like a viral wildfire and shot right to the top of trending topics everywhere. Vivid devil lap dancing, neck snapping, and satanic ritualism set the internet ablaze–just like he expected.

It’s like the revolving door of marketing extremism and being over-the-top just for the sake of doing so will never cease.

Here’s a lil bit of advice to Lil Nas X from hip-hop connoisseurs any and everywhere: Go ahead and drop the legendary name of the original Queensbridge lyricist from your moniker. You know, like you said you would.

“Nas is a legend and I never meant any disrespect by my stage name,” Lil Nas X once said in an April 2019 tweet. “I actually might change it in the future.”

The future has expired.

The original Nas did not emerge from the trenches of the Queensbridge housing projects to drop the 1994 “Illmatic” classic, arguably dominate the ferocious Jay-Z battle, and become a living legend in the rap game to be mainstream succeeded by a flamboyantly confused pop tart enthralled by social media clicks and shares.

By the way, “Old Town Road” is a better song than this latest effort.
