On Friday morning, Wells Fargo customers were left feeling dissatisfied because of apparent discrepancies in their online banking accounts.
According to social media posts, the issue began on Thursday, with customers complaining that their weekly or bi-weekly direct deposits once in their accounts have now disappeared, while some customers state that their direct deposits didn’t come in at all.
The missing money caused balances to show dramatically different balances than what was initially there.
Disgruntled customers have taken to Twitter to express their frustration over the sudden disappearance of their direct deposits and scheduled paychecks.
Several have also stated that their accounts are at risk of over drafting. Wells Fargo initially released a notification via its mobile app on Friday morning, advising customers that a “technical issue” may be responsible for any missing transactions or incorrect balances.

I’m here to remind the public that Wells Fargo stole my home away from me. They said I missed one single payment that I didn’t miss and demanded I pay the $75k balance left on the loan to stop foreclosure. They denied me discovery every time I asked. Never produced a note.

My direct deposit @WellsFargo has completely disappeared from my accounts leaving me in the negative. Does this mean #wellsfargo will pay ME a fee for not having access to my money? 🤔

In response to the situation, the bank has issued a statement acknowledging that there have been issues with certain customers’ direct deposit transactions not appearing on their accounts.
“We are working quickly on a resolution and apologize for the inconvenience. Customers’ accounts continue to be secure,” Wells Fargo said in response.
However, the bank reassured its clients that the funds in their accounts were correct and accessible.
Downdetector, a website that monitors reports of online outages submitted by users, noted a significant increase in reports of issues with Wells Fargo around 8 a.m. Eastern time.
