Dennis Rodman is an eccentric character.  The former Piston, Spur, Bull, and Laker made millions off the court because of his crazy persona, and he burned through most of his money, living a wild, rock and roll lifestyle that hasn’t slowed him down much now that he’s approaching 60.

Back in 2013, he visited North Korea and met with Kim Jong Un, a huge fan of Rodman’s since he was a young kid, watching DVDs of Bulls’ games as they won three NBA championships in the late 1990s.

Rodman pointed out in interviews another way he is the most interesting cat that has ever played in the NBA.  He carries five phones.  All of them were old-school flip phones.  Five burner phones, with his primary phone being one with a 305 area code for Miami, another 214 area code for his hometown of Dallas, and three others.

If you’re wondering how Rodman keeps track of all of them, he’s not sure himself. They all look similar, except for a little piece of tape that seems to differentiate them slightly.

He doesn’t carry flip phones because he’s afraid of modern technology. He said he does it because the FBI believes he is in contact with the North Korean leader.

“The reason why I got these flip phones is that the FBI they check my phones because they think that Kim Jong Un is calling me every day.”

Rodman said that is not the case, they don’t speak, at least not on the phone, and for now, he’s keeping the flip phones.
