Even the big city Democrats have had enough. Mayor Eric Adams is throwing hands up after migrants have been frequently bused from the border to his city. He campaigned as someone who wanted to keep NYC a “sanctuary city”, but now the mayor is eating his words.
Adams said on the migrant crisis, “It is the irresponsibility of the Republican Party in Washington for refusing to do real immigration reform, and it’s the irresponsibility of the White House for not addressing this problem.”
57,000 migrants got dumped in NYC in the past 6 months alone. He says the total cost for caring for these migrants would be $4.3. And that’s all from the city coffers.
He says he doesn’t fault immigrants for coming here, and they shouldn’t be turned away, but that the White House needs to immediately put the correct infrastructure in place so city tax payers aren’t footing the bill.
He even said his city was being destroyed due the surge of migrants at his doorstep. Surprising rhetoric coming from a Dem.
Adams then shifted back to his progressive politics by calling the Texas Governor Greg Abbott sending migrants here racist. ” It’s impossible to ignore the fact that Abbott is now targeting five cities run by Black mayors.”
