No matter what Elon Musk seems to do, big or small, it makes world headlines.

Whether he’s putting in an offer to purchase Twitter outright or talking about where he slopes at night, people are fascinated by it.

In an interview with Chris Anderson, who heads up TED Talks, he spoke about the fact that he got rid of all the property he owned, and does not own a house.

“I don’t even own a place right now, I’m literally staying at friends’ places. If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla’s engineering is, I basically rotate through friends’ spare bedrooms.”

The topic came up because Anderson brought up the global disparities in wealth that Elizabeth Warren has turned into her pet project.  Mega billionaires have been criticized for what they pay in taxes. Musk defended himself by pointing out he pretty much works and has little time for much else.

“For sure, it would be very problematic if I was spending billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case. “It’s not as though my personal consumption is high. I mean, the one exception is the plane, but if I don’t use the plane then I have less hours to work.”

Back in May of 2020 Musk revealed that he intended to sell all his possessions, including his homes, and he did, unloading numerous properties in Southern California and the Bay Area.
