A California mother claims to have lost her real estate job after speaking out against a new sex education curriculum at a school board meeting.

Mother of three Janet Roberson spoke out at a meeting of the Benicia Unified School District’s board on April 20, expressing her concerns about the programmed curriculum. The curriculum included teachings of “gender confusion, not gender clarification,” according to Roberson.

She added that teaching “vulnerable children that lifetime dependence on medical care is a viable option is completely unacceptable and evil.”

According to Fox News Digital, Roberson says she was unfairly branded as racist, homophobic and transphobic by members of her own community in letters sent to her employer and printed in local news outlets.

“Children are being asked to identify their pronouns and this is now part of the ten-year-old curriculum,” Roberson said. “This forces a gender discussion beyond the scope of the state requirements and complicates an already overburdened classroom environment.”

Because of her outspoken opposition, critics launched a campaign to get her fired from real estate broker Compass, according to a video posted on her website. The clip was then shared on X, formerly Twitter, where it garnered more than 1.5 million views.

StudentsFirstCA co-founder Jonathan Zachreson shared Roberson’s story on X as well stating, “This well-mannered mom spoke at the [Benicia Unified School District] board meeting, expressing concern the new sex-ed curriculum was teaching 10-year-olds they could choose their own gender,” Zachreson wrote Tuesday. “Within days, a group formally affiliated with [The Democrats] contacted her work, demanded and successfully got her fired.”

A Compass spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Roberson was not an employee of Compass. “[S]he was an independent contractor who worked on an agent team, and the decision to disassociate her license was made at the request of her team leader in late April 2023,” the spokesperson said.
