A man was arrested for allegedly carrying away and biting into the severed leg of a pedestrian who was hit by an Amtrak train in Kern County, California.

Video of the scene, which occurred in Wasco north of Bakersfield, appears to show a homeless man holding the lower leg and foot of the train collision victim up to his face and biting into it.

According to ABC7 on Sunday, the police confirmed it was a body part of the train victim. Sherriff’s deputies from Kern County swiftly appeared on the scene and arrested the man, and were determining the correct criminal charges.

On Monday, local network Fox 58 reported that 27-year-old Resendo Tellez was arrested at the scene and charged “with removing human remains from a location other than a cemetery.”

BSNF Railway police as well as Kern County personnel had arrived at the train station in Wasco around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd to respond to the unidentified person who was hit.
