At the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy felt his military could use some extra fighters, so he called for foreigners to come to Ukraine and fight with Ukrainians against the Russians.  Over 20,000 people from all over the world showed up.

One was a British vet named Shane Matthew, who told The Times of London that he is less than impressed with the Russian military personnel. He referred to them as “tactically inferior” to the Ukrainians.”

The Times story said Matthew described a 12-man Russian foot patrol being to panic when a firefight started as they entered the city of Irpin, near Kyiv.  Most of the Russian troops were killed in that battle, and a few ran for their lives.

Matthew fought two tours in Afghanistan and gave Russian soldiers the ultimate slam by saying, “the Taliban would do a better job… there’s no way they could encircle Kyiv.”

As for who Matthew believes will win the war? He said he is 100% on the winning side of this conflict and said he witnessed “complete incompetence” from the Russians.

Russian President Vladimir Putin thought his army could capture Kyiv in two days, according to reports.  They are on day number 23 now, and Ukraine has claimed to have killed over 14,000 Russian troops, while the Pentagon thinks the number is about half of that.

No one can refute that the once-feared Russian military is making very slow progress in Ukraine and is battling a foe that is not backing down.
