Former “Boy Meets World” star Ben Savage is taking the stage yet again! However, it isn’t the stage you’re thinking.

Savage announced he will be running for Congress as a Democrat in California’s 30th district on social media.

Savage made the official announcement on Instagram stating, “I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues.”

Rep. Adam Schiff currently holds District 30 but has announced that he is running to replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein who is looking to retire at the end of her term.

“It’s time for new and passionate leaders who can help move our country forward. Leaders who want to see the government operating at maximum capacity, unhindered by political divisions and special interests,” Savage continued.

When making an appearance on GMA 3, the 42-year-old spoke about his surroundings in politics since he was a child, sharing stories including his mom giving him her John F. Kennedy button from elementary school once he told her he was running for politics.

“I’m very passionate about politics. I studied it in college and I’m really looking forward to giving back to the community and standing up for what I think is right,” Savage commented.

Savage famously played the lead role of Cory Matthews on ABC’s “Boy Meets World” from 1993 to 2000, soon reprising his character in Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” in 2014.

We may soon see a new celebrity face in political office – and if he wins, one can only hope his policies serve and not harm Californians in District 30.
