Jeff Bezos has done a lot of things he can certainly be proud of.

There’s one thing that happened a few years ago that he would not put in that category, but fortunately for him, it appears it is coming to a conclusion.

In 2019, Bezos accused the National Enquirer of attempting to extort him by showing off texts and photos that would be incredibly embarrassing. Bezos went so far as to say Saudi Arabia could have been the responsible culprits who hacked his phone to get the pictures and send them on to the Enquirer.

It turned out the person responsible for sending the photos and texts was the brother of Bezos’ girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez.  Bezos was married and having an affair with Sanchez at the time, and it was Michael Sanchez that sold the photos to the media outlet.

The Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office investigated the charge made by Bezos, and they have now concluded that the National Enquirer was not extorting the former Amazon CEO, so they are not bringing charges.

The whole case was bizarre. Bezos hired cybersecurity experts who concluded that his phone was likely hacked by a WhatsApp account associated with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The story that would really be interesting is what family holiday gatherings are like if Lauren invites her brother Michael.
