It would be great to pack a healthy lunch for work every day and have a perfectly balanced and nutritious dinner waiting for you when you return home.

It would also be wonderful if your local lottery commission texted you the winning jackpot numbers every Wednesday, which is about as likely as the scenario above.

So, what if you have to roll through a drive-thru once to eight times weekly? Can you make some selections that are better than others?

Yes, says nutritionist Samar Kullab in a CNBC story.

The key is finding a good balance of protein, complex carbs, healthy fats, and fibers, she says.

So, here’s what she suggests.

If you’re craving a sandwich, consider Jimmy John’s Turkey Tom.

Ask for it on nine-grain wheat bread with a bunch of veggies. It’s 610 calories (if you go light on the mayo)

Chick-fil-A offers a Spicy Southwest Salad with grilled chicken nuggets, and you can even treat yourself to a small order of fries and walk away with only consuming 1,040 calories. Avoid the fries and have 320 calories.

Panera Bread’s Panera Duet will allow you to order a Napa almond chicken salad sandwich and a cup of 10-vegetable soup, Kullab says.

This is local, with 320 calories for the salad and 60 calories for the soup. If you’re a big eater, get a bowl of soup instead of a cup.

You wouldn’t think Taco Bell would be on this list, but it is. Specifically, the Power Menu Bowl. She gets it with grilled chicken and jalapeño peppers, and it’s a nice mix of rice, beans, guac, and chicken, with sour cream and vegetables. Four hundred sixty calories are in the bowl.

Finally, her fave is a Panda Express Plate, with black pepper Angus steak and a super greens entree.  You’re looking at under 500 calories total for this dish, even if you add a serving of brow steamed rice.
