Al Sharpton, through his advocacy group National Action Network, sent a letter to the McDonald’s CEO saying their company has been racially discriminatory.

Sharpton mentions a 10 billion dollars lawsuit against the fast food giant that accuses McDonald’s of not hosting enough advertisements from black owned companies.

And gone was John Rogers from the Board of Directors. Sharpton cried foul on that as well, as Rogers is black.

The letter said, “We unequivocally demand they immediately acknowledge and address these issues, or we will begin a national campaign around McDonalds. You cannot sell black folks Big Macs and give us little justice.”

McDonald’s shot back however, saying Rogers simply retired on good terms.

Expect the situation to blow up and get bigger. The National Action Network has some serious legal muscle, and may glom on to a lawsuit or aid in one already going on.

Still, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of “there” there. The accusations are vague and not particularly evidence based. But it provides a lifeline for Al Sharpton, as he searches for national relevancy, especially amidst failing ratings for his MSNBC show. Gotta ignite the fire somehow, I suppose.
