Gen Z streamer Adin Ross may have inadvertently caused Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan to be arrested by revealing Tate’s plan to leave Romania. Andrew had supposedly told Ross this information as part of a pitch to have Ross fly to Romania and shoot a week’s worth of content with him as a final goodbye to the country, where the Tates have lived for years.

As Valuetainment reported yesterday, Andrew and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania on Monday night in connection with a warrant issued by British authorities, as confirmed by a legal representative. The Tates now face charges including “sexual aggression” and exploitation dating back to 2012-2015, which could result in their extradition to the UK to stand trial.

“Thank God he didn’t get put back in there, ‘cause I would have felt really guilty,” Ross said, referring to Andrew’s previous prison sentence. “I honestly did not mean for that to happen. My motive and my reason [for] speaking about location was because I didn’t want to get swatted, which is really stupid.”

Getting “swatted” is a term for an online trolling tactic in which people lie to law enforcement about a possible threat to lure an armed SWAT unit to the victim’s house. It is unclear why Ross thought stating his location would prevent this, but perhaps he wanted to communicate that the content with the Tates would not be filmed in the United States, where swatting is possible. (In a longer clip of the same video, Ross does not elaborate.)

In the original clip, Ross is seen telling his stream viewers that Tate told him he would be leaving Romania for good and invited Ross to film a week’s worth of content with him.

The legal team representing Tate’s accusers wrote in a press release that they “received information” about Tate’s plans to leave Romania. They explain that they contacted the British police to inform them of this, and requested that they “seek a warrant for Tate’s detention in Romania and extradition to the UK.”

“We are grateful that the British authorities have decided to take action and take heed of our concerns and the concerns of our clients,” McCue Jury & partners wrote. “TATE is accused of serious criminal offences against a large number of victims and must be held accountable for those actions.”

A law firm representing four accusers of Tate also confirmed this to NBC News, explaining that Ross enabled authorities to arrest Tate on suspicions that he was attempting to flee Romania and thus avoid standing trial for his charges, which are related to rape and human trafficking.

The Tates were detained late Monday and served via UK warrant in connection to the additional charges (the brothers have British citizenship). They were set to be released Tuesday, and a Romanian court approved a request from the UK to extradite them when the Romanian trial concludes. The court of appeals wrote it “rules to execute the arrest warrant and […] to postpone handing over the requested person until the final verdict in the criminal case argued at the Bucharest court.”
