The British monarchy is roughly 1200 years old, so their fortunes are scattered through business interests across the globe. One of them is a corporation called The Crown Estate, whose purpose is to manage the properties of King Charles III.  And guess what? That entity is suing the second richest person in the world for alleged non-payment of rent.

You can’t make this up! The Crown Estate claims Musk has not paid the rent for Twitter’s London headquarters on Air Street near Piccadilly Circus, according to the BBC.

Apparently, The King’s henchmen have reached out to Twitter, and they got no response, so they are filing suit. Can you imagine that call? Did Charles dial the Twitter receptionist in San Francisco and demand to be connected to Elon to discuss this bloody mess?

The Crown Estate owns an impressive real estate portfolio in the UK, valued at around $20 billion.

My guess is that Musk is cool with letting Chuck have the office space back if he wants it since all Twitter signs and logos have been removed. However, Twitter still has employees in the building, so the logical assumption would be that Musk knows what a lightning rod he is and doesn’t want any markings of where he’s doing business.

In December, the New York Times reported that Twitter had stopped paying rent on their San Francisco headquarters. They are facing legal proceedings for that as well.

The New York Times isn’t a fan of Musk, so they unsurprisingly reported that the New York offices of Twitter had a cockroach problem.  Oh, clogged toilets and uncleaned bathrooms too.
