A funeral for a monarch as esteemed as Queen Elizabeth II Is laden with tradition and protocol. Nowhere in the handbook of “Royal Funerals” is a page that includes a man rushing the coffin as it lies in state in Westminster Hall.

That’s what happened, however.  It’s officially being titled a “disturbance,” and it happened around 10 p.m on Friday.  The man has been arrested, and the incident forced the live broadcast of mourners paying tribute to cut away from the live feed for a spell. People have been lined up to pay respects and waiting at times for 24 hours to do it.

The creep who rushed the coffin literally tried to grab the flag that was draped over the coffin.  According to reports, the incident was described as “extremely upsetting.”

Here’s a quote that a witness who was there gave The Sun.

“It’s such disrespect to the body. Just not what you thought you would ever see.”

Police were quick on the scene and took the man down.  Here’s a quote from the Parliament.

“We’re aware of an incident in Westminster Hall, in which a member of the public moved out of the queue and towards the catafalque. They have now been removed from the hall, and the queue restarted with minimal disruption.”

If you’re wondering how this could even happen, well, according to the Guardian, the man sprinted out of the line, climbed up steps, and beelined to the coffin.
