Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp is injured and unable to make an impact on the field, so the NFL superstar is doing something impactful off it.
The Los Angeles Rams wide receiver blasted Balenciaga for their scandal where the company is accused of sexualizing young children.
If you haven’t heard, it’s difficult to fathom how a major fashion brand could allow something like this to happen unless they wanted it to. Kupp torched the fashion line for images they displayed on their website that was part of their “Toy Stories” ad campaign. In it, children models posed with the company’s teddy bear handbags, wherein all the bears were dressed in BDS-themed gear from a fashion show.
Kupp went hard on the brand in an Instagram post.
“To try to be a voice for our children, who rely on the protection of the men and women that were entrusted the responsibility of nurturing them and raising them up: please make yourself aware of the attack against our young ones by @balenciaga, and ensure that they are held responsible for it!. For those of us in positions to create change in the way that companies manipulate people and advertise evil, please stand up!”
Social media was on fire with similar messages from outraged parents and non-parents alike.
As for the company, they issued an equally pathetic and predictable “apology” that seemed as sincere as a politician’s campaign promise.
“We sincerely apologize for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.”
Balenciaga knew precisely what they were doing. In October, they had models carry the handbag line at a fashion show with their faces bruised and their noses bloodied as they carried the teddy bears.
All eyes were on Kim Kardashian to see what the iconic brand ambassador for Balenciaga would eventually say about the mess.
“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened. As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.”
