We are not alone – probably – but should we try to keep to ourselves?
Scientists are saying there is a pretty significant risk if we make contact with aliens.
Total global annihilation, for starters (and for a finisher).
In the wake of the reports that NASA is investigating UFOs and U.S. intelligence experts not being able to rule out the existence of alien life, researchers, scientists and other experts warn that contact could “end life on Earth.”
The experiences reported by Navy aircraft pilots have shaken the scientific community.
The “unidentified aerial phenomena” included objects flying at speeds and in directions decidedly impossible for human-made flight.
So could they be termed “friendly”?
In a Washington Post story, physicist Mark Buchanan writes, in coordination with a group of astronomers, an assumption such as that could very well prove deadly.
“Chances are, we should all be grateful that we don’t yet have any evidence of contact with alien civilizations,” Buchanan writes. “Attempting to communicate with extraterrestrials, if they do exist, could be extremely dangerous for us.
“We need to figure out whether it’s wise — or safe — and how to handle such attempts in an organized manner.”
One popular notion – among professionals and amateurs alike – is that an alien contact would prove to be more advanced than humans.
That’s a good reason for insecurity from the citizens of Earth.
A dossier for Congress due this month reportedly will say the Pentagon is not able to explain some 120 sightings made by the Navy personnel over the past 20 years.
That said, the report will conclude the technology is unknown on Earth.
At any rate, UFOs have a new definition: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), and they are today based on much more than fringe conspiracy theories.
