The Biden White House is refusing to clarify its stance on upcoming recommendations that would advise Americans to limit themselves to two beers per week. On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dodged the question from Fox News’ Peter Doocy, claiming she had no idea what he meant and saying that President Biden would defer to “the experts.”

As Valuetainment previously reported, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) is re-evaluating its alcohol intake recommendations for the general public. NIAAA Director Dr. George F. Koob has suggested that Americans may be advised to limit themselves to the equivalent of just two beers per week, in keeping with similar policies in Canada.

“If [alcohol consumption guidelines] go in any direction, it would be toward Canada. If there’s health benefits, I think people will start to re-evaluate where we’re at,” Koob told the Daily Mail.

But when confronted with questions about the suggested policy, Jean-Pierre failed to provide an answer for the administration’s stance.

“Does President Biden want to limit Americans to two beers a week?” Doocy asked.

“Where’s this coming from? Maybe I didn’t miss you so much,” Jean-Pierre replied. “Where is this? Where is this coming from?”

After Doocy rephrased his question and cited Koob’s statements, Jean-Pierre simply deferred to experts without clarifying whether Biden is in favor of the policy. “Let me tell you what I’m not going to get involved in — in that in that question right there,” she said. “I — I have no idea. I’ve not seen the data. I cannot speak to this. I will leave it to the experts and not weigh in.”

If put into effect via a NIAAA policy revision scheduled for 2025, these health guidelines would not constitute legal restrictions or limit consumers’ ability to purchase alcohol. However, many have complained that the revision would constitute a government overreach in the same vein as the efforts to ban gas stoves and coal-fired pizza ovens.
