#TwitterDown was trending on the social media platform this morning as users appeared to have experienced a significant outage early Wednesday morning. Thousands of users reported outages started around 5:15 a.m. according to the site outage tracker Downdetector.

Screenshots of what seemed to be a reboot of accounts, displayed, “Welcome to Twitter!” The message continued, “This is the best place to see what’s happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow now.”

The reactions on Twitter are priceless as users poke and make fun of the temporary outage via the #TwitterDown hashtag:

Just last week, the “for you” section was temporarily disabled – particularly, the sports, news, entertainment and trending sections. The sections were up and running after 24 hours. Users can now see Twitter lists and the new “for you” section.

Many were still able to tweet on the site which allowed the #TwitterDown to become the top trending phrase in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The social media platform now has a workforce of less than 2,000, after 5,500 were laid off since last October.

Although the outage shows no correlation with the recent layoffs, it comes at a time when Twitter’s team has fewer staff members. The newer layoffs came a week after the company reportedly made it difficult for employees to communicate with each other online.

However, the team at Twitter was able to get the platform back up and running smoothly. Happy Tweeting!
