President-elect Donald Trump confirmed on Monday that he plans to declare a national emergency and utilize military assets for a mass deportation program targeting illegal immigrants upon taking office. This announcement, made on Truth Social in response to a post by Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton, emphasizes Trump’s commitment to reversing what he describes as “the Biden invasion.”
“GOOD NEWS: Reports are the incoming [Trump] administration [is] prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program,” Fitton wrote, to which Trump replied, “TRUE!!!”

Trump has committed to a hardline immigration policy, emphasizing the deportation of undocumented individuals and the reinforcement of border security measures, including the continuation of the border wall construction. If successful, this would mark the largest deportation effort in US history.
His administration has appointed staunch immigration enforcement advocates to key positions, including former acting ICE director Tom Homan as border czar.
Trump also indicated plans to invoke the rarely used Alien Enemies Act to facilitate the deportation process. However, legal and logistical challenges may complicate these efforts, as the Posse Comitatus Act restricts military involvement in domestic law enforcement.
Additionally, critics express concern over the implications of using such military measures for immigration enforcement, as well as the possible costs associated with this strategy.
Trump and his allies have pushed back against these concerns, framing the issue as a matter of national security well worth the price.
“Really, we have no choice,” Trump told NBC earlier this year. “When people have been killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they’re going to go back to those countries because they’re not staying here. There is no price tag.”
