Walt Nauta, aide to former president and 2024 GOP candidate — Donald J. Trump, pled not guilty in a Miami federal courthouse today. Nauta faced charges based on the indictment filed against Trump in June alleging mishandling of classified documents at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

The indictment was filed by special counsel Jack Smith who accused Nauta of conspiring with Trump to conceal records taken from the White House after Trump’s term ended in the beginning of 2021.

Nauta’s arraignment was already postponed twice due to his struggles in retaining a licensed Florida lawyer and flight delays. When Nauta finally appeared before the U.S. District Court in Miami with Florida attorney Sasha Dadan. Also present was Nauta’s representation from Washington D.C., Stanley Woodward, who entered the not guilty plea on Nauta’s behalf.

Trump previously pled not guilty to 37 counts at his June 13 arraignment including the allegations of willful retention of national defense information.
