Michael Franzese remembers being on parole in 1991, having walked away from the life, when his father called and said, “The family’s going to war and we need you back here… you can’t betray this family, you took an oath.”
For two days he planned to lie to his wife, violate parole and fly back to New York, until he was suddenly arrested walking out of a bank, thrown in “the hole” from ’91–’95—while the war raged with 13 men killed, 18 turning informant, and 63 going to jail. He says God saved his life because he likely would’ve ended up in one of those categories.
