On Tuesday’s episode of the PBD Podcast, UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman, aka “The Nigerian Nightmare,” joined Patrick Bet-David and the Home Team to discuss his Mixed Martial Arts career and his thoughts on some of history’s greatest faceoffs.

Here are a few of the highlights and standout moments from the latest episode:

1. “He’s Not Hungry Anymore” – Why Conor McGregor Won’t Be a UFC Champion Again

With rumors swirling that former UFC champion Conor McGregor is considering a return to the Octagon, MMA fans are wondering whether he’ll be able to reclaim his title after being out of the game for so long. While Usman believes that McGregor’s return will be big news, he’s not convinced that he’ll make it back to the top.

“There’s no such thing as an easy fight,” Usman said. “He’s going to battle with the decision to plug back in.”

McGregor once had the mindset of a champion … but Usman says we’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be able to build that mindset again.

2. “Jake Paul vs Andrew Tate” – Who Wins?

In a hypothetical cage match between kickboxers-turned-influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate and YouTubers-turned-boxers Jake and Logan Paul, opinions are split about who would come out on top.

In Usman’s opinion, an MMA-style faceoff unquestionably favors the Paul brothers, both of whom have wrestling and groundwork experience. The Pauls, Jake in particular, also benefit from having a chip on their shoulders, which might motivate them to fight harder than established competitors.

But would that be enough to give them an edge over the more experienced Tate brothers?

And is this a fight that will ever actually happen?

3. “Donald Trump vs Joe Biden” – Kamaru Usman on the 2024 Election

Turning attention to another hypothetical faceoff, Usman assessed the likely winner of a hand-to-hand contest between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

But in terms of physical capacity and mental sharpness, Usman gives the edge to Trump, referring back to their meetups in recent years.

“Fighting both guys would be very expensive, and Trump understands this,” Usman said. “That’s not a fisticuffs fight; that’s a wallet fight.”

In a political faceoff, Usman was less certain in his assessment—but even as a former Obama voter who tries not to be political, he’s not happy with the direction the country is headed.
