Residents of Oakland, California, showed up in force to confront a Soros-backed District Attorney and other county officials last week for their failure to enforce the law.

Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price now finds herself facing public outcry and even a possible recall following criticism from citizens and the local chapter of the NAACP.

Price was first elected in 2022 after running on “pursuing comprehensive alternatives to incarceration” and “social service interventions that reduce harmful behavior without law enforcement involvement.” During a previous campaign in 2018, filings show that Price received at least $699,000 from the California Justice and Public Safety PAC, an offshoot of a network founded by left-wing globalist billionaire George Soros. This connection to the Open Society Foundations founder has been cited by Price’s critics as the reason for her soft-on-crime policies.

The confrontation between Price and her critics came while the district attorney spoke about “criminal justice 101” at Montclair Presbyterian church on Thursday. Angry citizens interrupted the presentation demanding answers for the rising crime wave threatening their city. A recent viral video of an attempted armed carjacking in the Skyline neighborhood sparked much larger concerns about violent crime among the city’s youth.

The two individuals in the dashcam footage, along with seven other young offenders, were recently released after being arrested in connection with a string of robberies and assaults. Price argued that there simply was not enough evidence to convict the suspects, but she admitted to having no idea what happened to the youths after their release. “They probably attacked someone else,” an audience member can he heard saying in news footage of the event.

Oakland Police Captain Clay Burch was also questioned by the angry crowd. Both Burch and those in the audience acknowledged that the police response has been limited by local government ordinances.

This confrontation came at the same time as the publication of a scathing letter from the Oakland chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) that called for a “state of emergency” in response to the crime wave. Chapter President Cynthia Adams and local pastor Bishop Bob Jackson stated that “failed leadership, including the movement to defund the police, our District Attorney’s unwillingness to charge and prosecute people who murder and commit life threatening serious crimes, and the proliferation of anti-police rhetoric have created a heyday for Oakland criminals.”

“There is nothing compassionate or progressive about allowing criminal behavior to fester and rob Oakland residents of their basic rights to public safety,” the letter continued. “It is not racist or unkind to want to be safe from crime.”
