The United States Secret Service has approved a new security plan for former President Donald Trump following the attempt on his life last month, allowing him to resume holding outdoor campaign events provided he remains behind bulletproof glass. The bullet-resistant shields, which are typically reserved for sitting presidents, will now be made available for Trump to use as well, traveling with him from place to place as he travels.

According to sources within the Secret Service, plans to supply Trump’s security detail with bulletproof glass were put in place by former agency director Kimberly Cheatle, who resigned amid the backlash from the shooting. Since then, Trump has appeared only at indoor venues, where Secret Service agents can more easily secure the area.

Trump aides have indicated that the former president is eager to resume holding outdoor rallies, but he has reportedly said that he does not want to do so without protective barriers around him.
