Russia has launched one of the largest attacks on Ukrainian civilians thus far in their ongoing war, killing more than 15 people and injuring over 100.

According to Ukraine, Russia fired about 110 missiles on Friday morning at the six largest Ukrainian cities not currently occupied by Russian forces: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Lviv.

“Today, Russia used nearly every type of weapon in its arsenal,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote Friday on Telegram. “We will surely respond to terrorist strikes. And we will continue to fight for the security of our entire country, every city, and every citizen. Russian terror must and will lose.”

“No talk of a ‘truce’ … will stop Russian aggression, but will only inflate its scale,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “Russia is not considering any other scenarios than the complete destruction of Ukraine.”

Ukraine destroyed a Russian warship in Crimea earlier this week, which resulted in the death of one person and the injuries of four. The ship, the Novocherkassk landing vessel, was reportedly being used to transport drones as well as tanks and soldiers. Russia confirmed the attack, and Ukraine boasted it was a major blow to the Russian military. Zelensky joked on social media that the Novocherkassk was joining the Black Sea Fleet underwater.

However, Ukraine is also reportedly losing ground in the war. Just as they announced the destruction of the Russian ship, Ukrainian officials also acknowledged their forces had to retreat from the city of Marinka after failing to hold up against Russian attacks. Its loss recalls Ukraine’s failure to keep the city of Bakhmut in May.

As Valuetainment previously reported, support for Ukraine’s “total victory” strategy has been quietly diminishing leaders among the U.S. and Europe. Western allies are now trying to convince Ukraine to opt for defensive negotiations with Russia, a position previously blacklisted as the work of Russian propagandists.
