Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is predicted to pivot his campaign strategy after poll numbers and fan bases favor former President Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee.

DeSantis’ campaign team confirmed last week they would be laying off some of their staff after disappointing polls and negative headlines have come to the forefront of mainstream news for the Florida Governor.

The Florida governor lost traction in crucial early-voting states including New Hampshire and South Carolina. Donors have also reportedly shopped around for possible alternatives, according to The Hill.

Recent federal campaign filings indicate that although DeSantis raised $20.1 million in the last quarters of his fundraising, his campaign has been going through those funds rather quickly, burning through $8 million in that quarter alone.

Roughly 14 percent of his campaign contributions have come from small-dollar donors which raises some red flags for his campaign team. DeSantis, however, states there is a narrative targeting him unfairly.

“I think, clearly, you see an effort to create these narratives,” he told “MediaBuzz” host Howard Kurtz on Fox News Sunday. “I think the good thing about it is Republican primary voters are very smart. They know where these corporate outlets stand on the political spectrum.”

Several outlets are reporting DeSantis looking to widen his media reach and start doing more interviews with more outlets – a strategy many critics have already suggested.

Republican strategist Justin Sayfie and past donor to DeSantis acknowledged that “part of the reason that he isn’t being treated very well by the national media is because he shunned them,” adding that he will need to improve those media relationships.
